As time passes, gradually we move toward the day when the comfort of our memories is greater than the sorrow of our loss. Alvin D Hayes was born July 27, 1937 in Clinton, Louisiana to the parents of _Willie Louise and Jackson Hayes. He was the youngest of five children. His brother, Roy Hayes preceded him in death. Alvin received his formal education in Clinton, Louisiana, graduating at the young age of 16 then served our country by becoming a part of the United States Navy in 1955. Alvin continued his education at Compton Community College. In 1959, he married Irma Nickerson, from this union two daughters were born, Connie (Dorsey ) and Angela (Henry). In 1960 Alvin met a young lady by the name of Dorothy Walker. They married January 14, 1963, from this union two children were born: Marchand and Veronica. He then relocated to Los Angeles, California where he became employed with General Motors. He was able to put his talents to work by designing/painting beautiful cars. Alvin later moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he continued to work with General Motors. He worked hard and moved up in the company ultimately becoming a Supervisor. Alvin retired at the early age of 55. Alvin was never shy in expressing his opinions. He took pride in providing “life’s road map” to anyone that he met, always stressing the importance of hard work and a good education.
