He will be laid to rest at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Arvil Wesley Cox was born November 8, 1926 in Spiro, OK to Dessie Shores and Emmett Cox. Arvil lived in Southeastern Oklahoma and Southwestern Arkansas during early childhood. He worked with his dad following work cutting logs for sawmills. The family moved to Texas when he was almost 16, and he lived there until he went into the Army at age 18. After boot camp, Arvil spent a year in Germany during the Occupation. He married Ima Jean on March 3, 1951, the love of his life for over 60 years. They moved to Oklahoma City after they wed where they welcomed their son, Robert Wesley (Bob). Arvil began work in outdoor advertising, working for a sign construction company. He retired after 38 years. He lived in the Village and Britton area until 1978. At that time he moved to Harrah where he and Jean lived until his death. Even as a child he loved to fish and hunt which provided both recreation and dinner. His love for both these pastimes continued throughout his life. He hunted and fished with his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, his son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren passing on his love for the sport. He loved country music and playing games. He enjoyed annual camping trips to Southeastern Oklahoma with family, especially his grandchildren. Fond memories were built on fishing Billy Creek, hiking the Ouachita trail, snake tales, campfires, dominoes, card games and picking wild blueberries. He also found great joy in traveling with Jean. He loved his family, his church family, and his family at the Harrah Senior Center where he spent many hours playing dominoes and cards. At age 84, Arvil left this life to be with His Lord on July 17, 2011. He is survived by his wife Jean of the home, son Robert Cox and wife Genevie of Bethany, OK, brothers Earl Cox of Durant, Oklahoma, Charlie Cox of Newark, Texas, Fay O"™Neal of Glen Rose, Texas, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
