Betty Lou Pederson

February 2, 1924 — May 5, 2016

Betty Lou Pederson, 92, of Oklahoma City, died May 5, 2016. She was born on February 2, 1924, in Oklahoma City to Frank & Nelle Mae (Hutsell) Kesler. Betty graduated from Central High School with honors in 1941. She was a legal secretary for the Katy and Santa Fe Railroads and later for the architectural firm of Hudgins, Thompson & Ball. After her children were in high school she became the secretary for the Village United Methodist Church, a position she greatly enjoyed. Betty met her future husband Victor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio while taking ballroom dance lessons. She and Victor were married on her birthday in 1956. Their union was blessed with two daughters: Ellen Pederson and Linda Pederson Prentice. Betty was a homemaker and was very involved in school, church and neighborhood activities with her family. Betty loved reading, singing in the church choir, studying the Bible, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering for various causes. She made it a point to be an informed voter. Betty valued her family and friends highly and continued to make friends of all ages throughout her life. God was foremost in her life from childhood on. Betty was grateful to God for her dear family, her many friendships, and the many experiences and opportunities she had in her 92 years. We know she would like to say “Thank You” to God and the many people who gave her so much joy, love and support. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Nelle Kesler, best friend & husband Victor Pederson, step-son Stanton Pederson, sister Ruth Berrier & her son Bill Berrier, sister Fran Shumate & husband Jimmy, brothers & sisters-in-law: John & Eunice Pederson, Arthur & Jeanette Pederson, Frank & Eva Pederson, Carl & Hildur Pederson and son Carl Martin, Naomi Pederson, and Esther Pederson; nephew-in-law Dave Cantral and great-nephew David Cantral.
