Bobbie Gates

Bobbie Lou Gates, 66, of Carlsbad, NM passed away Friday July 1st. Bobbie was born in Santa Monica, CA on September 15, 1944 to BG and Elsie Weddle. Bobbie graduated from Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, NM in 1963. On September 1, 1963 Bobbie married her high school sweetheart, Clay Gates. Bobbie later earned a BA and MA in Education, and taught second grade at Hillcrest Elementary School for 11 years. Bobbie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carlsbad, NM and a devout Christian. Bobbie is survived by her mother, Elsie Weddle; husband, Clay Gates; four children and their spouses: Eddy and Cynthia Gates, of Oklahoma; Jimmy and Denise Gates of Oklahoma; Robin and Paul Korody of New Mexico; and Rachel and Thad Harless of Virginia. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK on Friday July 8, at 10:00 am.
