Carol Ann Williams

June 7, 1938 — August 27, 2014

A Celebration of Love and Life On August 26, 2014, Carol Ann Williams of Kingston, Oklahoma was called home from this earthly life after a brief, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Carol was 76 years young. She touched many lives in the Norman and Lake Texoma area during her time. Carol was born June 7, 1938 in Norman to Bill and Thelma Kienlen. Carol’s two special gifts were music and the love of children and she spent her life in the service to each of these passions. She attended Norman schools where she won numerous piano and vocal awards. She gave piano lessons, taught music at Canada School, and was the organist, pianist, and music director at churches she attended. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she majored in Elementary Education. June 28, 1953 she married Willie Williams, the love of her life, at Willow Springs Church in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. They walked together through 54 years of marriage until Willie’s death on July 10, 2007. After Willie’s death, Carol spent another seven years committed to their sacred union. Those who knew them and the depth of their love know, without hesitation, that Willie was waiting on the other side to take Carol’s hand the day she died. Carol and Willie co-owned and operated Willie’s Appliance Center in Norman, Oklahoma until their retirement in 1999. Then they moved to Lake Texoma and enjoyed lake life and made many friends, including their church family. Because of her love for children, Carol served and enlarged the Children’s Ministry at Lighthouse United Methodist Church. Carol’s grandchildren describe her as an example of how others should be and they will always remember her as the most loving person in the universe. They have no words for how special she made them feel. She has always embodied the idea of a grandmother that most people only get to know from movies or books. How many people can say they crashed their grandmother with a four wheeler? Or carried her in a circle in the swimming pool while she sang? She’s like a superhero. The world needs more Grandma Carol’s. She was preceded in death by her father and her husband. Carol’s modern family includes her mother, Thelma Kienlen; daughter, Mary Williams and husband Burke Anderson, their children Lindsey and Brett, son-in-law, Doug, and granddaughter, Audrey; daughter, Cary Williams and husband David Lowry, her children Christie and her partner Docia, son Chase, and her grandchildren Caylee and her partner Bryce, Raven, and Michelle, and Michael; daughter, Shari Erickson, her children Matthew and his partner Shalla, and daughter Ashlee and partner Marc; and son, Bill Williams. She has many honorary sisters, brothers, and grandchildren. She’s got the whole world in her hands. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, August 29th at 10:30 am at Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 2100 Alberta Creek Road in Kingston, Oklahoma. A graveside service and interment will be held at the IOOF Cemetery in Noble, Oklahoma at 3:30 pm the same day. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Lighthouse United Methodist Church Children’s Ministry, 2100 Alberta Creek Road in Kingston, Oklahoma, 73439.
