Carolyn Cobb Bridges was born March 4, 1934 in San Augustine, Texas and passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2016. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1951. After graduation, she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where she met and married the love of her life, David Bridges. They were married almost 63 years until David was called to heaven in 2015. Carolyn worked fulltime, as a homemaker, while raising her three daughters until she was 50 years old. She then began a 25-year career working in the mortgage industry for Continental Federal Savings & Loan and Midland Mortgage/MidFirst Bank. She reluctantly retired at the age of seventy-five because of health issues. She was fascinated with the majesty of God’s natural creations and loved traveling to see beautiful places like Pebble Beach and Yosemite National Park. She loved to watch golf, especially when Phil Michelson was playing. One of her favorite trips was attending a PGA tournament and being able to see Phil in person and follow him around the golf course. Carolyn loved the Lord and was proud to be a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church and serve as volunteer nursery coordinator for 35 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, David and her parents Ray and Mildred Cobb, Nacogdoches, Texas. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Peggy and Bud Sullivan, Beth and Jim Marsh, and Lynn and John Stewart; Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Brandy Sullivan and Sable, Letricia Hinze, and Dana Correll, David, Susan, Thomas & Macie Kofoed, Matt, Felicia, & Jack Kofoed, and Brandon & Tyler Stewart. She also is survived by 2 brothers and their wives: Jay & Norma Cobb, and James & Linda Cobb. Memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, 4901 N. Sara Road, Yukon, OK on Thursday, February 2 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Integris Hospice or Bethel Baptist Church. The family would like to thank her caregivers Dr. Terrie Gibson, Dr. William Cook, Dr. Kent Studebaker, and Starla, and Ashley with Integris Hospice.
