Services to be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Edmond Campus of Life Church, Edmond, OK Carolyn Joyce Bray-Caldwell formerly Carolyn Eddings, was born to James Alfred Bray and Juanita Nadine Phillips-Bray on Nov. 12, 1935 in Kansas City, Mo. She passed on July 22, 2010 of cancer in Guthrie, Okla. Always a beauty, she was fun loving and high spirited who was at the helm of her family"™s events. Quick witted with keen intelligence, she was always ready to offer her advice and support to her loved ones and friends whom she remained loyal to throughout her life. She also adored her pets, and was an avid collector of everything cat, owning several real ones of her own. She had an infectious laugh, which captivated all who heard it, and her joyful nature will surely be missed by all who knew her. She remained cheerful throughout her long illness, always trying to comfort everyone around her. During her younger years, as she strived to raise her children, she was employed at as a waitress including one long-term job at the Brass Key Restaurant. Having attended Putnam City Schools, she graduated from Blackwood Business College later in her life and held positions at Cain"™s Coffee Co., T.G.& Y. headquarters and finally served over 9 years at St. Anthony Hospital until she retired. Her employment there was most meaningful to her, and she sincerely loved every aspect of this work relationship. Formerly married to Holley Earl Eddings (deceased), Carolyn and Holley are the parents of Jennifer Carol (Werneke), Melody Rene (Moore), Kenneth Mark and Jeffrey Earl Eddings. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Melody, her brother, Harold Luther Bray and sister, Patricia Ann Bray-Varvil. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, George "Bud" Butler Caldwell, her sister, Judith Yvonne Bray-Borchmann and husband, Ronald, children: Jennifer, Jeff, Kenneth and wife, Cathy, brother in-law, Wayman Varvil, plus numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Her grandchildren include: Bill Groner and son, Christopher, Laurie Groner-Kline and husband, James, Jennifer Corrine Bostwick and husband, Eric, Carolyn Nicole and Richard Cody Riggs. Her step-children include: George Michael Caldwell, and siblings, William Gary, Jesse Lee, and Tracy Lee Caldwell, Sammy Glenda Bailey and siblings, Earl Edwin and Phillip Dean Bailey, and Francine Rene Nole. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staffs of St. Anthony Hospital, Companion Hospice and Willowcreek Health Care Center (Guthrie, OK) for their help and dedication to Carolyn and loved ones in her final days.
