Carroll Wendell White

February 9, 1938 — December 15, 2014

Carroll Wendell White came like the cavalry when he was needed; cowboy hat, boots and all. Wendell passed away on December 14 in his home in Oklahoma City, he was 76. Born on Feb. 9, 1938 to Ralph Duncan White and Verna Mae Haney, Wendell grew up in Oklahoma City and was part of the first graduating class from Northwest Classen high school. He was a husband to Phyllis Phipps, father to Dianna and Deborah and grandfather to Hayley, Alexandra and Annie. Wendell worked for OG&E as a field representative and was the assistant manager for five years at Bishop’s Restaurant. He managed a BF Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company, was Vice President for Eastland Mortgage Company and ended his career as an administrator of vital statistics for the Oklahoma State Health Department. He loved the Lord. He loved his children and his grandchildren to the moon and back. Wendell dedicated his life to saving others. He was professional and loyal toward the Alcoholics Anonymous community; sponsoring hundreds and helping them overcome the crushing weight of addiction. Loyal to his friends and devoted to his family, we will remember Wendell’s advice, his knowledge about the history of Oklahoma City, his stories and his laugh. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Verna, his sisters Mona Phyllis Love, Ralph Dee White, Barbara Merrill, Carolyn White and Rosemary McCarron. He is survived by his sister Esther Dickerson and husband Don, mother of his children Phyllis, his daughter Dianna and her husband Dean, his daughter Deborah, his granddaughters Hayley Kemp and her husband Adam, Alexandra White and Annie White and many beloved nieces and nephews.
