Cecilia June was born in Electra, Texas, on February 7, 1929. When she was six months old the Great Depression hit America. The following years the dust bowl days were taking place. Her early years, living in Electra and Bowie Texas, were spent with her parents and younger sister Betty Jo and baby sister Anita Lou. When June was about 12 years old the family returned to their hometown Camargo, OK. In Camargo a third sister was born, Judith Ann. June loved her family and her small town life in Camargo. While attending school there she played basketball for the Lady Black Hawks and was president of the local social club Teen Town. She also worked with her dad at his Texaco gas station pumping gas for 10 cents a gallon and did his accounting penny books. She graduated from Camargo High School in 1946 and attended Southwestern in Weatherford, OK that fall. World War II had ended in the fall of 1945 and the GI’s were coming home. One handsome GI from Camargo, who was 9 years her senior, who returned home was ‘Tommy’ Ramsey. Tommy and June fell in love and were married about a year later at her parents home in Camargo. They lived in Camargo then Fairview before moving to Tulsa where they spent most of their time raising their children and operating Ramsey Real Estate. In 1973, Tommy and June moved to Elk City and worked together operating Ramsey Real Estate and Ramsey Mobile Homes. When they were not working or managing the duties of their family, they were involved and committed to their church. June’s time on earth with her sweetheart Tommy sadly ended on January 19, 1978 when he had a heart attack and passed away. As a mother she carried on raising Ruth Ann and went back to selling Real Estate in Elk City. In 1978 she met Joseph Ryder Miller and they were married on February 11, 1979. Joe and June shared their love for Christ and were active in various churches in Elk City. They were very supportive of their church family and happy to help whenever there was a need. They also loved to travel and enjoyed going on several trips during their time together. June was also an active volunteer at the Elk City Pregnancy Care Center. Having six babies of her own, she wanted to do all she could to support young mothers. She volunteered with this organization for over 30 years. June accepted Christ as her Savior as a young mother, and she spent her entire adult life growing in her faith and sharing it with family, friends, and anyone she met. She taught Sunday School, and always had an extra Bible on hand that she could give anyone who would accept it. June was not only interested in spiritual growth, but she was also very interested in her physical health. She loved to prepare and eat healthy recipes, and was physically active all of her adult life. She walked three miles a day throughout her life, and enjoyed water aerobics as she got older. June leaves a great legacy of love, kindness, genuine concern for others, deep faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
