Services will be held in Lafayette, LA. with Delhomme Funeral Home handling the arrangements. Charles E. Jacobs, a resident of Mustang, OK, passed away on March 13, 2011. Charles was born the second son to Dr. Harold J. Jacobs and the late Nell M. Jacobs in 1953 in Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold J. Jacobs, III. He is survived by his brother Carl D. Jacobs and his wife, Darlene Jacobs of Aiken, SC; his sister, Julie J. Harris and her husband William Harris of Hoover, AL; and his sister Janelle J. Sprick and her husband, Clarence Sprick of Kenner, LA. His family also includes nephews Bradley Jacobs, Joseph Harris, Nicholas Harris and David Harris and his nieces Heidi Jacobs, Hayley Jacobs, Leslee Jacobs, Olivia Sprick and Jessica Sprick. He also leaves behind many close friends in Baton Rouge and in Oklahoma. Charles was very active in the Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He participated in several national scout activities, among which were the 1969 National Scout Jamboree, one trip to Philmont Scout Reservation in Cimarron, NM and two trips to Northern Tier in Ely, MN. He graduated from Comeaux High School in 1971. Thereafter, he attended LSU where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. During that time he was proud to play in the LSU Tiger Band. After completing studies for a second degree in Mechanical Engineering at LSU, Charles accepted a position as chief engineer with United Engine Company in Oklahoma City, OK where he designed heavy oil field equipment. Services will be held at 1:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers, 1011 Bertrand Drive on Saturday, March 19. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
