Charles Leonard Mills died June 5th, 2010. He was born in Galveston, Texas, July 25, 1945, to Margaret Leonard Mills and Ballinger Mills Jr. He graduated from Ball High School in Galveston and Trinity University in San Antonio, where he met his wife Julie. They and their two children lived in Galveston until 1983, when the family moved to Oklahoma City. There he became a very active member of the community. He was a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary Club 29, a mentor in the public schools, a volunteer with the Art"™s Council of OKC, and very active in the Episcopal Church serving on church vestries, ushering, leading Stephen Ministers at St. Paul"™s Cathedral and volunteering at the Guild of St. George. After retirement from the financial field, he found a late in life avocation in substitute teaching in middle school, a role he truly loved. His sweet spirit and gentle nature surrounded him wherever he went, and with his sense of humor, made him a friend to all. He is survived by his wife Julie Basanda Mills, daughter Ashley Mills of New Orleans and son Ryan Mills of Oklahoma City. The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation to the wonderful caregivers he had for the past two years. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul"™s Cathedral, 7th and Robinson in Oklahoma City on June 12th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Paul"™s Cathedral, Trinity Church Galveston or the Louisiana Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (4621 W. Napoleon Ave., Suite 207, Metairie, La. 70001)
