Corina M. Daniel 12/14/23 - 5/12/10 Corina Daniel passed away peacefully in her Oklahoma City home on May 12, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Corina was born in Bolivia, South America and was raised in the City of Cochabamba. She attended the University of San Simon in Bolivia where she graduated with a degree in Meteorology. Corina moved to the United States in 1949 and settled in Tulsa. She very proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1954. Desiring a career in teaching, she obtained her education degree from the University of Tulsa in 1968, after which she began a 20-year career as a teacher in the Tulsa Public Schools. Corina was very active in civic organizations. She was a founder of the YMCA Foreign Women"™s Club, a member of the Tulsa University International Students"™ Association which provided comfort and fellowship to foreign students during school breaks and holidays, a member of the Pan American Round Table and the Hispanic American Foundation, both in Tulsa. Upon retirement she taught English as a second language and was a docent for many years at the Philbrook Museum of Art. After moving to Oklahoma City in 2001 to be near her grandchildren, Corina became a docent with the Oklahoma City Art Museum. She was an avid reader and crossword junkie. She loved art and classical music. Corina was absolutely passionate about the game of bridge, playing in many groups up until just a month before her death. As a member of St. Eugene"™s Catholic Church, Corina was active in the seniors"™ group. Preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Michelle Daniel, Corina is survived by her son, Thomas J. Daniel IV, and daughter- in- law, Lisa, of Oklahoma City, her grandchildren, Corbin, Riley and Chip, her brother and sister-in-law, Luis and Beatrice Montes, and nephews, Cristobal and Rodrigo Montes, all of Los Angeles, and numerous dear friends, as well as relatives in Bolivia. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Cancer Society or any local animal welfare organization. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at St. Eugene"™s Catholic Church with graveside services to follow at 3:00 p.m. in Tulsa at Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the St. Rita Chapel, Cascia Hall, Tulsa.
