Cran Lee Morrell was born June 8, 1948 in Holdenville, Oklahoma and departed this life on Monday evening, October 10th, 2011 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 63, following a very brief battle with cancer. Cran, the son of Clarence Cooper & Myrtle (Horn) Morrell, had grew up and lived in the Holdenville and Seminole area until he enlisted in the United States Army In 1967. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge from the Army in 1969. On December 26, 1968 Cran married Ladonna Gail Jones of Holdenville. Together they had two sons and eventually made their way to Paden, Oklahoma. He bought land in the rural area of Paden where he built a home and raised his family for the last 30 years. After his service in the US Army, he worked in the remanufacturing business of car parts and retired from Fred Jones Ford Manufacturing out of Oklahoma City in 2000. Cran had a great love for hunting and fishing. In the last few years, since his health had declined, he got great joy in watching his grandchildren play as he sat in his chair and watched them from across the yard at their home. He always had an eye open, making sure they were not climbing on or messing with his fruit trees. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, two brothers (Paul Morrell and Ronnie Morrell), one sister (Johnnie W. Ferrell), and his mother in law (Lola Maxine Jones) of whom he loved very much. Survivors include Ladonna Morrell of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Cooper and Holly Morrell of Paden; son, Tommy Morrell of Paden; his five beloved grandchildren, Jasmyn Morrell, Tyler Shutt, Carson Fleming, Miley Morrell, and Cooper Lee Morrell, Jr.; one brother, Ricky Ritter of Prague; and many in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Cran was a great man, devoted to those whom he loved, especially Ladonna, his boys, and his grandchildren. He lived his life with honesty and was loved and respected by many. He will be missed greatly in this life by all those who knew and loved him, especially his grandchildren. The family has chosen to have a private family memorial service and celebration of Cran’s life at a later date.
