Creela Gentry

Creela Anastasia (Oelke) Gentry, 6-18-1936 to 6-14-2009. Our sweet mother, who was born Mega Rose Maupin in Oklahoma City was adopted by Henry and Mary Mae Barnes Oelke at the age of 18 months. She was raised in Oklahoma City and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School.  She had six children, a job & and an aging parent when she graduated from nursing school in 1968. She credits her oldest daughter, Bonnie, and friend Helen Harrison with helping her through those times.  In 1994 Mom earned an A.S. degree in business from OKC Community College. Her daughter Phyllis Jo Soward Watson predeceased her in 1995.  She is survived by daughter Bonnie Moates & husband DeWayne; son Harold Soward; daughter Mary Gentry; daughter Annette Williams & husband Alan; & son David Gentry & wife Patricia, all of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren are Jennifer & husband Stacy of Shawnee, OK; Bryan Moates & wife Andrea; Adam Moates & wife Jessica; Julie Chappelle & husband Jed, all of OKC; Chris Watson of Oregon & eight great-grandchildren. Mom also leaves two pet dogs, Angel & Little Bit, whom she deeply loved. She enjoyed piano, number puzzles, crochet, sewing, quilting and reading. She cared for her parents as they aged & many patients in her nursing career. Toward the end of her life the professionals at Hometown HHC, Kindred Hospital, and Baptist Medical Center, ICU/6th floor and 10E, cared for her.  We deeply grieve for her loss but are overjoyed she is now with her parents and our sister Phyllis. Services will be 10:00 a.m Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Candlewood Chapel, 305 S Sooner Rd.  Immediately following the graveside portion of her service, a reception for friends and family will be at 6101 S Country Club Dr. in south OKC.
