Darlene Freerksen

Darlene Ann (Basham) Freerksen was born on April 19, 1931 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Earl Basham and Maxine Aurora (Pitcher) Basham. She passed from this life on Saturday, August 24th, 2013 at Warr Acres Nursing Center in Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 28th at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, OK. Darlene was united in marriage to Dean LeRoy Freerksen on June 19, 1949 in Toledo, Iowa. To this union was born four children: Dean Jr. of Elk City, OK, Robert of Woodward, OK, David and wife Suette of Waxahachie, TX and Deborah Griffith of Oklahoma City, OK. Dean and Darlene celebrated 60 years of marriage. Darlene was a very good seamstress and spent many years sewing garments, doll clothes, care bears and purses. Darlene owned a ceramic store for several years. She was involved in Queen Ester Order of Eastern Star, Woodwardette's and Beta Sigma Phi Order of Sorority. She had many friends in these organizations and loved serving in all of them. Darlene was also a member of the New Horizon United Methodist Church for many years and loved her church family. Darlene will be missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings: Jean Regier, Martha Crabbs and John and wife Rita Basham, in addition to many other family and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers-in-laws: Vernon Regier, A.B. Crabbs, Dale Freerksen and sisters-in-law Jane Herink and Joan Cotell.
