David Michael O"™Donnell, 58, died early Friday morning after a long battle with melanoma. Dave was born to his parents, Paul and Joyce, in Lubbock, TX. He served for 17 years in the US Air Force, where he flew F-4 and F-15 fighter jets and served as a flight instructor before leaving the service with the rank of Major. After leaving the Air Force, Dave flew the Boeing 737 for Southwest Airlines for 12 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and boating at Lake Eufala and running. In 2006, Dave completed the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Paul O"™Donnell, and his dear friend and brother-in-law, Larry Dye. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kathy; his daughter, Courtney, her husband, Thomas Riffey, and their children, Luke and Caitlin; his sons, Patrick and Sean; his mother, Joyce Martin, her husband, Lloyd, and his son, Kevin; his sister, Carol Gries; his sister, Cathy, and her husband, Mike Musch; his beloved in-laws Ralph and Neva O"™Donnell, Kelly Dye, Kerry and Jeff Hughes, and Shannon and Greg Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dave"™s family would like to thank the offices of Dr. Mohamed Farouk Kanaa, the staff of Mercy Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, the great people of Southwest Airlines, and all Dave"™s family and friends for their amazing support. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, 7336 W. Britton Road, Oklahoma City, OK.
