Denise Donoho Jones - 69, of Oklahoma City passed away Sunday, June 21st after a long hard fought battle with cancer. Denise was born February 17, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK to Dr. Otis Hubert and Rebecca Shafer Donoho. She grew up in Oklahoma City where she attended Harding High School until it closed at the end of her junior year 1968. Denise was a cheerleader at Harding High School. She then went to John Marshall High School her senior year and graduated in 1969. She attended OU and received her degree in Journalism. Denise was the Editor of the OU Oklahoman Daily Student Newspaper. After graduation she worked at the Daily Oklahoman as a Reporter for several years. She also worked as a Reporter for the Oklahoma Journal for several years. During the summer months, while attending OU, she worked as Director of the OKC Parks and Recreation Department Summer Lunch Program. Denise enjoyed going to Branson, Missouri, where she never saw a bad performance. She also loved to water ski, snow ski, horseback riding, golf, traveling, reading, and writing. She loved animals of all types, particularly cats. Denise would always light up the room when she walked in. She will be missed by all those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. O.H. Donoho and her mother, Rebecca Shafer Donoho. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Darby Donoho Rodgers and Deedy Donoho Ward. She was married to Tom Jones until his death in 1985. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Debby Albano and her husband Mike Albano of Oklahoma City, and Donald Shutts her long-time companion of 35 years. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Grace Bible Church, 10301 Lakeside Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73120 at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 3rd.
