Don William Dahlgren May 20, 1947 – January 12, 2025
Don William Dahlgren was born May 20, 1947, in Oklahoma City to the late William (Bill) and Marjorie Dahlgren. He peacefully passed away January 12, 2025.
Don graduated from Casady High School in 1965 and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. He met the love of his life there, Alice Roberta Moss, while serving as a houseboy at the Kappa Kappa Gamma house. Initially a math major, Don switched his focus to civil engineering. The couple married on November 23, 1968, at St. Luke’s Methodist Church.
A passionate outdoorsman, Don had a lifelong love for hunting, fishing, flying, and cooking. He was a master at bringing people together, whether for an adventurous getaway or a delightful meal. Don’s enthusiasm for life was evident in his many hobbies and travels, including biking trips across Europe, memorable golf outings with friends, and hosting large gatherings at their home. Don was a member of the board of directors of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
Many cherished family memories were made at the “Double D Ranch” in Chandler. Don took great joy in sharing his passions with his family and friends, whether it was teaching them the art of duck hunting or guiding them in the kitchen to create a special meal. He loved hosting the “Gourmet” group at the ranch for the weekend to cook.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Alice; his son, Eric Dahlgren, and daughter-in-law, Nicole; and his daughter, Emily Haemer, and son-in-law, Dr. Matthew Haemer. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Reagan, Emma, and Rex Dahlgren; Andrew and Allison Fitzpatrick; and Anna, Luke, and Clara Haemer; sister Dana Croom (and the late Dr. William Croom), brother Roger Dahlgren (Karen), sister in-law Toni Moss (Marion Sigurdson); and preceded in death by his sister in-law Carol Suzanne Payne.
Don will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Luke's Methodist Church, Ducks Unlimited, or UCHealth Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
