Edward Alfred Richardson was born May 3rd 1922, in Delphine, Oklahoma, the son of Nick Richardson and Nellie Pearl Gillespie. Ed grew up on a farm north of Foss, OK and attended grade school at a one-room schoolhouse on Oak Creek in Custer County. The family endured the dust bowl and the great depression. Ed went to high school in Foss, OK and attended college for two years in Weatherford, OK. When WWII broke out, Ed left college to join the Air Force. Ed was given an honorable discharge after serving at Camp Luna, New Mexico, La Guardia Field in New York, and oversees in Greenland. After the war, Ed rode his Harley motorcycle to Peoria, Illinois when he met his future wife Catherine Ann Eaton. Ed and Catherine were married on June 19, 1948. They soon started a family and their first daughter Cathy was born a year later, followed by daughter Arlene, son Nicholas, and daughter Barbara.
