Faye Grimes

November 9, 1931 — April 26, 2016

Faye was born to Bernice and Jess Crunk in Wewoka, OK, and then adopted by Rollie Raymond Smith and Dorthel Orel Smith at the age of three. She was recently living in Yukon with family. Previous to that, she resided in Chandler, OK. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Chandler, where she played the organ and piano, and was a deacon. She died peacefully after a brief diagnosis of cancer. During her professional career, she worked as an education secretary and a medical transcriptionist. She enjoyed reading, especially mysteries, playing the piano, playing on her computer and could play a mean game of dominoes. She took pleasure in hosting the family’s yearly Thanksgiving dinner. She was a kind, loving, sweet and caring person, always concerned about her family, neighbors and others with a willingness to help whomever she could. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by three daughters and one son: Susan and husband Mike Burris of Yukon, OK, Denise and husband Tommy Barbee of Chandler, OK, Sharon and husband Rusty Whisenhunt of Lawton, OK, and son Don Nix of Wewoka, OK, a sister, Anna Ales and brother-in-law Gaylon, a brother, James Smith, a sister-in-law, Jo Payne. Grandchildren: Christopher, Miklyn, Sean, Heather, Randy, Charlotte, Nick, Ryan, Tyler, Jasmine and Candy. Great-Grandchildren: Riley Brown, Autumn Roper, Landon and Tytan Nix, and Maxwell McMahon. Faye had a host of many special nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Virginia Holt and Patricia Andrews, and brother Frank Crunk. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and doctors for their kindness and care. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Sanjay Patel, who oversaw all her needs in the last months. Thank you to friends and family for your love and support. She was loved dearly and will be missed.
