Fern L. Baker

July 10, 1933 — November 10, 2014

Loevia Fern Linton was born to James "Willie" Linton and Viola M. Ingram Linton in Non, OK on July 10, 1933 and was called home by our Lord on November 10, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Fern was a graduate of Gerty High School, Class of 1952 where she was a member of the Gerty Blue Devils basket ball team. After High School, she was employed by the Holdenville Hospital.   Fern and Robert G. "Bob" Jackson, Sr were joined in holy matrimony on January 1, 1957 and had one child, Robert Jackson, Jr. Fern and Bob were residents of Seminole, OK until 1966 where Fern was a homemaker and an active member of the garden club.   In 1966 the family established a home in Purcell, OK and Fern was employed by the Purcell Municipal Hospital as a Nurses Aide. She was also involved with the local election board. On December 13, 1972 her husband Bob suffered a fatal heart attack. Fern remarried on October 15, 1977 to Leon Loyal Baker of Midwest City, OK and both she and Leon were employed by the Mid-Del school system. Tragically, Leon succumbed to cancer on January 11, 1989. Losing two husbands was extremely difficult for Fern. In 1990 she was hired as a Nurses Aide at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center and served in this capacity until 1999. Fern began her healthcare career in 1953 and by far the most fulfilling period of employment was her time taking care of America's heroes.   Fern was preceded in death by her father James W. Linton, mother Viola M. Linton, brother James R. Linton, and sister Doris June Linton Vickers. She is survived by her son Robert "Bob" Jackson, niece, Lisa George, nephews James Scott George, Phil George, John George, Gregg George. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Fern L.
