Harold Eugene Thompson, born on August 2, 1939, went to be with Jesus on September 5, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Martha, with whom he shared a home.
Harold leaves behind three children from previous marriages: Larry Eugene Thompson of Del City, OK, and Lisa Renea Lyons of Yukon, OK. His daughter, Patricia Diane Burleson, preceded him in death. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Born in Liberty, KS, to Mary and Harry Thompson, Harold moved to Oklahoma City as a young man with his growing family. He began his career with Mobil Oil, where he managed their training center, and despite only having an 8th-grade education, he went on to own and operate three service stations, the largest located at I-35 and Wilshire Blvd in Oklahoma City.
Harold had a passion for raising Appaloosa horses, which his daughter Patty showed, winning numerous ribbons. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and building projects, working with both wood and metal. He, along with a friend and his son, built the home and surrounding buildings where he lived for the last 30 years.
A devoted gardener, Harold shared fond memories with his granddaughter and great-granddaughter, picking cherry tomatoes, washing them, and dipping them in sugar together. His storytelling and love for life created lasting memories for his family.
Harold was deeply loved by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
