Horace Hoseal Nikkel (Nick) died in his home and went to his heavenly reward Friday, June 4, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He had fought a long battle with Alzheimer"™s Disease; but was able to keep his sweet gentle spirit and sense of humor to the end. Nick was born in Bethany, OK, to Ora Virginia Shelby Nikkel and Cornelius Nick Nikkel on December 23, 1919. His wife of 68 years, Colleen; his parents; two brothers, William Cornelius Nikkel and Benny Dick Nikkel; and one sister Vivian Gloria Nelson preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Judy and husband Jim Tipton and Betty and husband Bob Redwine, six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and many other family and friends. Nick was a farmer until he went into the Army, serving in WWII on the battlefield in Okinawa where he received a purple heart. After his retirement from Phillips Petroleum he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Services will be held at Meridian Ave Baptist Church; Nick"™s church home, 2 pm, Wed, June 9, 2010 Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer"™s Association or your favorite charity.
