Isabel Louise Gates Croft was born February 20, 1913 in Henryetta, Pennsylvania and entered into Gods Kingdom on March 11, 2012. She was a resident of Nichols Hills, Oklahoma and a delightful 99 year old, having just celebrated her birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Croft and son, John W. Croft. Isabel was the second child of five born to Ester Louise Gates and John Logan Gates. She experienced the journey of a changing world having lived through sixteen U.S. Presidents beginning with Woodrow Wilson. She enjoyed a faith filled life, music, the "Lawrence Welk Show", and her many friends. Isabel enjoyed her career as a registered nurse, graduating with honors from Sibley Memorial Hospital at American University in Washington, D.C. Two of her patients were Eleanor Roosevelt and Walter Chrysler, of the auto industry. Isabel spent many years in Portsmouth, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida where she gathered wonderful friends. The family appreciates the kindness of Sterling House of Bethany and the Mercy Hospital staff. Her joyous spirit will be missed by all. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Croft Barnett; son-in-law Gerald F. Barnett; grandchildren, Kenneth N. Edwards, Natalie J. Edwards and great granddaughter, Mackenzie J. Barnett. Her departure leaves a huge hole on earth but a bright spot in Heaven. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012, 3 pm, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 N. Shartel, Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Oklahoma City Museum of Art, memo: Oklahoma Art League Project and mailed to: 1604 W. Wilshire Blvd., Nichols, Hills, Ok. 73116. Contributions made to this fund will go toward the purchase of a painting for the museum.
