James Robert Duncan

James Robert Duncan (Jim) 72 years of age of Yukon Oklahoma, passed October 7th, 2012 after a 10 month battle with cancer. Jimwas born Dec. 19th 1939 in OKC to his parents John Bob Duncan and Ree Cathrine Duncan. Jim graduated Duncan High School being active many activities including student council President taking a school trip to New York City in 1958. He attended both SMU and OCU studying both ministry and business. Jim served as a Pastor of The United Methodist Church in Terrell Oklahoma in 1960. After college, Jim worked for his father at Duncan Drug in Duncan Oklahoma, eventually taking over when Bob retired. Jim moved to OKC in 1977 and worked successfully Sweet and Legal and AMS. He has held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Smith Roberts Land Services since October 2000. Jim was admired by many for his work ethic and honesty. Among his passions were Sooner Football, traveling, attending concerts and enjoying his family. In May 1979 he met Phyllis Shelden and they were married June 5th, 1981. Jim and Phyllis shared a story book romance for 33 years. He is survived by his wife Phyllis; his mother Ree Duncan (Jenks OK); daughter Cathy Akin (Salton City CA.); son James (J.J.), his wife Dixie ,grandchildren Danielle Austin and McKenna (Seattle WA); step son Darryl Shelden, granddaughter Baylee (Piedmont OK), grandson Jeff Lindsey, Kayla and son Landon, step son Carl Shelden (Piedmont OK); sister Pat Thomson and husband Ron (Tulsa OK); many adoring nieces and nephews, loving friends and faithful dog Boomer. Preceded in death by father John Bob Duncan. Memorial services held at 2:00pm Wednesday October 10th at Church of the Servant 14343 North MacArthur Blvd, OKC OK.
