James “Jim” Edward Geist James “Jim” Edward Geist, age 64, Oklahoma City – passed peacefully January 9, 2020. The fourth of 5 children, he was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 19, 1955 to Shirley and William Geist. Jim was a Technical Service Engineer for the last 8 years at Franklin Electric. Prior to this, he was a Certified Professional Instructor for 19 years at the United States Postal Services, NCED. Jim also worked at his parent’s restaurant, Lady Classen Cafeteria, from teenage to adult years. He graduated in 1973 from Northwest Classen High School, attended the University of Oklahoma for several years, then earned an associate degree from Oklahoma Junior College of Business and Technology in 1991. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, where he served for a period of time as Sr. Warden. He was also involved in the Brotherhood of St. Andrews and ushered for many years at All Souls Episcopal Church. Jim loved working in the yard, baseball, fishing in Colorado, a good cigar with friends, and most of all, going on a date with his wife. He was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He loved his country, his church and Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his mother Shirley M. (Fisher) Geist. James is survived by his loving wife, Cindy L (Norman) Geist; son, Gregory James (Lindsey) Geist; daughter, Suzanne Elizabeth (Jeff) Arnold; father, William Geist; brothers, Thomas (Melanie) Geist and John (Yvonne) Geist; sisters, Connie (Fred) Fehr and Carol (Tim) Shanahan; grandsons, Kolton, Ledger and Everett; granddaughters, Eastyn, Ireland and Lennon; many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at All Souls’ Episcopal Church, located at 6400 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Oklahoma City, OK, on Friday, January 17th at 11:00am, officiated by Father Nathan Carr. The family would like to thank the staff of INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center and INTEGRIS Hospice House for their constant, attentive treatment; and Corbett Funeral and Cremation, for making the arrangements.
