James Gene Meier

James Gene Meier Sr., a resident of Norman, Oklahoma, succumbed to complications after open heart surgery in the early morning hours at the comfort of his daughter's home surrounded by his family on March 3, 2019. James was 78 years old. James Meier was born August 23, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the only son of Thomas and Josephine Huff. James was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Josephine Huff, and his two grandchildren Rebekah Burkhalter Gibson and Tyler Meier. James is survived by his wife, Mary, of 55 years, daughters Suzette (John) Ash, Jeanne Marie (Chip) Barrere, sons James (Melinda) Meier II, J.P. (Ashley) Meier, sisters Ann Kleese, Tomi Huff, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family. James was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. James was a notable and unique individual, a true man of distinction.
