Oklahoma City

James L. Meyer, a resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, peacefully ascended to heaven on June 11, 2023, at the age of 72. Born in Columbia, Missouri, he was the son of the late James Edward and Sabra Tull Meyer.

Affectionately known as "Jamie" by his friends and family, he held the esteemed title of "The Voice of The Irish." Jamie dedicated over twenty-three years of his life as a passionate and selfless volunteer at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. Whether he was seen serving behind the concession stand or in the press box, Jamie's social dedication knew no bounds. His genuine warmth and infectious charisma ensured that he never met a stranger, as he led by example and never forgot a name.

Jamie was a devoted husband, father, and a man of unwavering faith. His family always came first, and this commitment continued until his final moments. With a heart of pure gold and a smile that illuminated every room he entered, to know Jamie was to love Jamie.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Karen O'Shea Meyer, and his daughter, Sabra Meyer Crabtree, along with her husband, Casey, from Shelbyville, Kentucky. Additionally, he will be deeply missed by his furry companion, Star.

Surviving him are his brother, John Meyer, and his wife Cheryl, from Mercer Island, Washington, as well as his sisters Shelley Vestal and her husband John from Hot Springs, South Dakota, and Sabra Johnson and her husband Doug from Rocky Mount, Missouri. Jamie also leaves behind a sister-in-law Kathleen O'Shea Taylor, as well as multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he considered to be his extended family. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother and father.

Details regarding the celebration of Jamie's life will be announced in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School General Scholarship Fund in Jamie's honor.

May he find eternal peace and rest.
