Jane Stansell (nee’ Foreman) was born May 22nd, 1959 in Fredicksburg, Virginia, the child of Jeanne Ann Morris and Clarence David Foreman. She died suddenly in her home February 15th, 2017 at age 57. Jeanne, her mother, was quite the specimen. Born mostly deaf, her favorite music was loud rock n’ roll (particularly The Who). Her father was a Marine who served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was buried in Arlington National cemetery alongside a brother of Jane that died in childbirth. Jane’s other brother is Robert Foreman who operates his own business here in Norman. Jane’s parent’s divorced when she was four years old and her mother raised her with the help of her grandmother Morris. Jane spent her childhood years in Bristow, Oklahoma. By all accounts she was a happy child who sadly, experienced more than her share of life’s trials and trauma’s, some of which left lifelong scars. She moved to Norman for her senior year in high school, afterwards working most notably for the Women’s Resource Center. She went on to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1997. She later worked at the Juvenile Detention Center; she always had a soft spot for difficult teenagers. Also, when her husband Jack quit work to pursue his Nursing degree at OU, she kept working, supported the family and kept the sandwiches coming. Jane made many friends in her life; to list them all would be impossible but here are some that deserve honorable mention: Linda Robillard, Marcia Mcphail, Suzanne Bass, and Vicki Michner. She met her husband, Jack Stansell in 1997 and they married in 2000 in a beautiful ceremony at their home. Jane and Jack spent what leisure time we had travelling to New Mexico, Colorado, and California; those were special times indeed. Besides her sparkling blue eyes, porcelain skin, and dark curly hair (think Shirley Temple on steroids) Jane had a personality that even a thousand pages couldn’t describe. For example, when my brother Gary first met her he remarked, “You’re funny.” She immediately replied, “Funny Ha, Ha, or funny odd?” He replied, “Both.” Hey were lifelong friends after that. She liked to play with words. When meeting somebody that really stood out from the crowd, she would describe them as, “unique” only she pronounced unique as, “uni-cue.” Her light will be sorely missed in this world. For those of you that had a chance of getting to know her and didn’t, you’ll ever know what you missed. All I know is now there is another angel in heaven watching over us all. She is survived by her husband Jack, brother Robert Foreman, numerous cousins, uncles, aunts, in-laws, a stepmother, and Maxwell, her cat.
