J.B. Rivers Jr.

d. April 20, 2012

Jacob Boyd “J.B.” Rivers, Jr, was born June 6, 1928 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Jacob Boyd Rivers, Sr. and Irene Glaze. Relocating to Oklahoma City, he graduated from Classen High School, class of 1945. Upon graduation, J.B. attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, obtained a degree in Music, playing oboe and piano. He married Elaine Kroha of Rochester, New York, relocated to Oklahoma City, and played for the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra. Following the legacy of his father who served in World War I, J.B. enlisted in the United States Army and attended Officer’s Candidate School in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Upon completion, J.B. and Elaine relocated to France, where J.B. served in post-World War II reconstruction. After his decorated service, J.B. relocated to Stillwater, Oklahoma, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1959. Upon graduation, he worked for Alcoa Aluminum Company of America, Western Chemical Company, and then later founded Rimeco Corporation. Over the course of his career, J.B. was awarded multiple patents. Over the years, J.B. has served the Lord faithfully in many capacities, including Lay Leadership and teaching Sunday School and Adult Classes. But his most influential endeavor was serving individuals lacking a traditional family support system. J.B. would take them under his wing and cultivate a relationship, ministering to them in a unique way. J.B. was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Kroha Rivers, and his sister, Majorie Scott; survived by children Judy Rivers, Jacob Boyd Rivers III, and Tim Rivers, daughter-in-laws Nancy Rivers and Angie Rivers; nephews Terry Scott and Bruce Scott; grandchildren Chelsey Larkin, Lauren Rivers, Jacob Boyd Rivers IV, Allie Rivers, and Hayden Rivers. In addition, he will be missed by the many individuals he touched with his personalized mentoring and sharing of God’s word.
