Jerry Lynn Jackson, (Big Daddy) 78, of Bethany, OK, passed away on August 29, 2024. Born on September 15, 1945, in Anadarko, OK, Jerry lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Neva Jackson. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Ann Jackson; his children, Travis Jackson and his wife Shila, and Justus Jackson and his wife Megan; his brothers, Bill Jaxon and his wife Pam (along with her daughter Victoria), and his eldest brother Ray Jackson and his wife Gayle. Jerry was known for his deep kindness, caring nature, and willingness to help and give to others. His dry sense of humor and competitive spirit made family game nights a “joy”. He was also known for his love of spoiling his family’s pets. Jerry’s family and friends knew he loved them deeply, often without needing words.
He had many passions and interests, including golf, gardening, woodworking, cabinetry making, and special projects. He cherished spending time with family and friends, grilling outdoors, and enjoying Oklahoma University sports, Dallas Cowboys football, and camping with family and friends (typically with unsafe bonfires).
Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army for four years as a Specialist 4th Class during the Vietnam War with the 25th Infantry Division “Tropic Lightning.” He was honored with the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars for Marksman, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and The National Defense Service Medal.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at a later date, which will be announced. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests that donations be made in Jerry’s honor to charitable organizations supporting military veterans or animal rescues and shelters.
Jerry’s legacy of love, generosity, and humor will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
