Jess Andrew Cooper

Jess Andrew Cooper was born November 21, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is the son of Ollie Emanuel and Flora Altheda Cooper (Abram). He is proceeded in death by his sister, Beatrice Bernice, brother, Ollie E. Cooper Jr, and his parents. Jess was baptized at New Zion Baptist church by his grandfather, Rev. Jess T. Abram Sr. He was a member there until the death of Rev. Abram. The family then moved membership to St. John Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. W.K. Jackson. Jess attended Creston Hills Elementary school, John F. Kennedy Jr. High, and Douglass Sr. High where he graduated in 1969. Jess enlisted in the United States Air Force in April 11, 1974 where he served as Air Traffic controller and honorably discharged in May 28, 1976. He graduated from Central State University (now University of Central Oklahoma) in 1978 with a Bachelors of Arts degree and pursued a career with the state as a Social Worker Supervisor of the Department of Human Services for over 20 years. Jess earned his Masters of Education degree in 1983 and later earned a second Master's degree in Chemical Dependency in 1999, both from the UCO. From 1975 to 1994, Jess was married to Wanda Gaines. Jess and Wanda raised two daughters, Tangela and Adrianne. Jess was extremely family oriented and loved his family with all his heart. Forever cherishing his memory are his daughters Tangela and Adrianne; grandchildren: Re'Ven, Malcom, and JaiVon; great-grandchildren: Cherish, Treazure, and Zayla' brothers: Charles and Abram' sisters Theresa, Cynthia and Adrianne' as well as a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation for Jess Cooper will take place Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Corbett Funeral and Cremation from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The family will be at the visitation from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The graveside service for Jess Cooper will take place Friday, January 27, 2017 at Oklahoma Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
