Jesse Raymond (J .R.) Burnam of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Bevier and Callao, MO, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at: the Northwinds Living Center in Oklahoma City, OK and was treated for cancer at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Graveside services will be in the Richardsdale Cemetery in Bevier, MO, and will be announced at: a later date. J. R. was born in Macon, MO, April 19, 1949, the son of Alfreda Weber-Burnam-Via and Denver Welch Burnam. J. R. graduated from Bevier High School in May 1967, and attended Truman University. He was drafted in the military during the Vietnam War, and received his training as a medical technologist at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. He was stationed at Fort Smith, AR, and worked as a medical technologist for the duration of his military service. J. R. worked at Ford Motor Company in Kansas City, MO for several years and groomed dogs on Saturdays. His only real professional interest was always in the dog grooming business, and he had his own pet styling business in Tulsa, OK. He was very knowledgable about dogs and other animals. J. R. is survived by three Aunts, Marguerite-Burnam-Fugate-Bowen, Nadine Burnam-Ryther-Loveland of Macon, MO, and Bibette Weber-Burnetta of Overland Park, KS, four first cousins, Keith Fugate, Jean Ann Fugate-Miller, Kay Fugate-Roberts. and Myron Allen Ryther, and second cousin, Carol Wingerter. J. R. loved life, was always smiling and loved to tell jokes. To know him was to love him. He leaves many loving friends. J. R. was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Alice and Jess Burnum, Ray and Mabel Weber, his Aunt Darlene Weber-Perry, and his Uncle J, D. Burnam.
