Jim was known to be a lovable grump if you'd spent any time around him. He had a dry sense of humor and an encyclopedic knowledge of fantasy, comics, movies, and music that could keep conversations going for hours—in a good way. Jim had friends from all walks of life: childhood pals, fellow band members (he played in more than five bands), buddies from DragonFyre Comics, and companions from movie and dinner nights. One thing they all agree on is that Jim was loyal, loving, fun, and deeply family-oriented.
Jim passed away peacefully in his bed at home on June 19th at the age of 68, following an evening doing what he loved most—jamming with friends.
He is survived by his loving family: sons Jordan Lane (wife Jessi) and Bryan Lane (wife Brooke), and cherished grandchildren Dallen, Izabelle, Brennen, Jackson, and Cheyenne. Jim is also survived by his brother Russell Privette (wife Roxanne), sister Rachelle Privette Lichtenegger, and ex-wife Kristi Morel. He leaves behind nieces Rachel and Raely Privette, Jacob Lichtenegger, Kessler Lichtenegger, and Emily.
Jim was born in Norman, OK, and graduated from Midwest City High School in 1973, remaining close with his school friends throughout his life. His passion for rock music, art, and comics began in childhood and led to his involvement in multiple bands over the years. He owned DragonFyre Comics, where he formed many close friendships. Jim enjoyed traveling when possible, but his greatest joy was spending time with family. Known for his loyalty, Jim will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him.
