John Edward Barrett was born on November 12, 1951, in Concordia, Kansas and passed away on March 19, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK. Proceeding him in death were his parents Fern Della (Ratcliff) and Jack E. Barrett. John is survived by his wife Kathy, daughters Jay Renee Bronson and Holly Farmer and partner Dustin Lena, and grandchildren Michelle and Jaime Bronson, Bradley and Maiganne Bronson, Shelby and Matthew Lester, Christopher and Erin Bronson, Skylar Farmer, Landon Farmer, and great grandchildren Kansas Snow Bronson, Eliyah Jacoby Bronson, Murcee Morgan, and Ryatt Morgan. Also survived by brothers Jack Barrett and his wife Betty, Jeff Barrett and his wife Barbara, and sister Janet Scott and husband Curtis. John served in the United States Navy from 1972 thru 1976 and was stationed on the USS Ranger off the coast of Vietnam. After returning from deployment, John married his wife Kathy Ziegenbein on May 1, 1979, in Shawnee, Ok. John attended college, followed by employment as a commercial building estimator for B&B builders, eventually working for the State of Oklahoma as a construction inspector overseeing facility design and completion for the department of corrections until he became disabled in the year 2000. John was known by those around him as funny and entertaining, always jokingly introducing himself as the ''young and handsome John Barrett from North America." Throughout his life, John was compassionate, generous, kind, and always willing to help anyone who needed it. John enjoyed playing golf in his younger days, and forever tinkering with and repairing electronic devices. John was a well-known celebrity at the local pub where he visited and entertained all and was loved by his many friends, which included having his personal
"Hollywood star of fame designated barstool" and privileged command of the TV remote control. John loved spending time with his grandchildren, often bragging how proud he was of them. John was loved by all and will forever be in our hearts.
