June 2, 1953 – December 6, 2024

John Mario Elias, 71, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on June 2, 1953, to Blanche Coleman, John’s life was one defined by service, community, and love for family and friends.

John grew up in Norman, attending Norman High School, where he played football and began cultivating the camaraderie and determination that would shape his life. Following high school, he answered the call to serve his country in the U.S. Army until 1974, dedicating himself to protecting and upholding freedom.

After his military service, John turned his focus to his community, serving as a police officer in Norman, Oklahoma. Later, he joined his father’s business, continuing the family legacy of hard work and dedication. John’s passion for public service brought him back to law enforcement, where he served as a police officer and eventually became the Sheriff of Maud, Oklahoma.

John had a zest for life that extended beyond his professional achievements. He was a gun enthusiast and a passionate music lover with an impressive record collection. A natural entertainer, he brought joy and laughter to every gathering, often taking center stage as the comedian or dancing the night away with friends and family.

John’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Dawn and Mandy Elias; his granddaughter, Andrea Kuzilik; his brother, Randy Horn, and his wife, Cindy; and his sister, Margo Price, and her husband, Tommy. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Tori, Cole, and Lexie, and adored their children.

John’s legacy of service, humor, and love for those around him will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
