Kenneth (Gene) Evans passed away on July 10, 2014 at home with his family at his side. He was born in Carter, OK on December 8, 1935 to Edgar and Georgia (Davis) Evans. He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Avery W. Evans and his parents. He was retired from the Air Force 42nd Field Maintenance Squadron as a TSgt after 23 years of dedicated service. He served in the Korean War and two tours of duty in Vietnam. After retirement from the service he worked and retired from the YWCA. He was a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge #417 of Oklahoma City where he received numerous awards. He is survived by his brothers; Vernon, his wife Flossie and family; Charles, his wife Janis and family; Jack, his wife Janet and family; and a sister Ann Woody, her husband Don and family. He is also survived by stepdaughters Kim Huber, her husband Alan and grandchildren, Cody and Ashlee of Simi Valley, CA; Sabrina Cronenberger, her husband Duane of Fort Mill, SC and grandchildren Katishna, of Columbus, OH, Melinda of Fort Mill, SC, and Michael of Blackstone, MA. He has two great-grandchildren, Evan and Laurie of Columbus, OH. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and aide of Valir Hospice for their assistance and support. At his request, cremation was honored and interment will be at a later date in the National Cemetery at Fort Sill. A memorial service will be planned for a future date.
