Kevin Lynn Tallant

Kevin L. Tallant was born November 9, 1948, and died unexpectedly on November 27, 2011 at the age of 63. Kevin was born in Champaign, Illinois and being from a military family lived in many different locations around the world. He did a majority of his growing up in Alamogordo, New Mexico and moved to Tijeras, New Mexico to raise his family. After living there for over 20 years, they made a major move to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His oldest two children had already moved to Oklahoma and had been living there for some time. Kevin, Joyce and Benjamin moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1999. Soon after arriving here he got a job working for the state of Oklahoma at the Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality division. For the past 10 years Kevin was a devoted employee who strove to make a difference to all that he came in contact with. Of his many hobbies he was passionate about photography, as well as many other intellectual pursuits of art and literature. He was an avid outdoorsman and angler, but most of all it was his family that he enjoyed spending his time with, whether taking a cruise with Ruth and her family, or at Benjamin’s house for burgers on Saturday or enjoying time afield with Luke. Of his many talents, he is remembered as a teacher. For those who would take time, he taught compassion, patience and understanding. He taught that politeness didn't cost a thing, and that nothing was more important than honoring one's word. He truly enjoyed spending time with children, sharing his knowledge and watching them learn something new. Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Joyce; two sons, Luke and his wife Janelle, Benjamin and wife Sherry; one daughter Ruth and her husband Eric and two grandchildren Eric II and Abbigael.
