Kirk M. Goins Kirk went to his Father on December 17, 2019 at the age of 56. He was born July 30, 1963 to Veldo Monroe and Scottie Sue Goins in Oklahoma City. Kirk’s sister, Pamela Cai Goins, was his inspiration for success. He married in 1988 to the love of his life, Donna. They had two children which were Kirk’s pride and joy, Nathan Goins, 20 and Rylee Goins, 16. Kirk was looking forward to meeting his grandchild, Charlotte. Family was the center of Kirk’s world. He had aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins who loved him. Kirk graduated from Oklahoma State University and followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a civil engineer and working his whole career at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Kirk was an active member of Life Church and fiercely studied the bible. He was part of an important community within AA and devoted much of his time to helping others and sharing his faith, hope and love. Kirk had many he touched. He was a devoted father and a light of generosity to all those around him. His kind words, his faith and his sense of humor were blessings to all those within his grasp. Kirk’s unique take on life made him a passionate, compassionate, kind person with a big heart. His courage is an inspiration to us all. Kirk once wrote to his son Nathan, “We are not given what we can handle; we are given the strength and courage to handle what we are given. God doesn’t just present us with the path or the task, He prepares us to overcome adversity and overcome challenges that He puts in our lives, that we might be able to help others who are struggling with the things He puts in their lives. God doesn’t call on those who think they are prepared--He prepares those who are least expected to be called. Each of us has a unique opportunity each day to be of maximum service to God and our fellow man. We simply need to be open to the opportunity to be one of God’s soldiers. We aren’t always given those things we are able to accept, but we are always given the courage to trust and accept the things God gives us.” There will be a celebration of Kirk’s life on Monday, December 30 at 10:00 am at Life Church, 2001 NW 178th in Edmond, OK.
