Graveside services to be held 10:00 A.M. the morning of Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City, OK George Larry Mell, beloved husband and father was born on September 8th 1945 in Pryor Oklahoma and returned to the Lord on November 11th, 2010 at age 65. Larry was the son of parents of George Elmer Mell and Maxine Anne Mell. Larry as he preferred to be called grew up in Bethany, Oklahoma. He Attended Bethany Public Schools and played both football and basketball. He joined the Air National Guard when he was 19, and served until he was 23. His dream was to become a pilot He had earned his pilots license when he was 23, and got a job as a private pilot for an executive for standard insurance. Larry loved to fly, and frequently flew around the country. Eventually, Larry decided to give up flying. He wanted to start a family, and realized that being gone so much would not be in the best interest of starting one. Larry started his second career, working for Southwestern Bell where he worked for nearly 25 years before retiring. Larry met his future wife Donna Leonard at the local Denny"™s before work one morning. They dated for several years before getting married. Larry loved to fish, so much so that when planning the wedding, he wanted to get married on the boat he owned at Toledo Bend, however, they got married at the courthouse in Center Texas, near the lake. As his sons grew up, Larry spent many weekends and vacations at the lake fishing with his boys and wife. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Donna; his children Aaron Mell of Norman; Timothy Mell of Oklahoma City; His brother, Howard Mell of Bethany, Ok; His Sister, Beverly Sweets, of Bethany Ok; His numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
