Lazelle L. Dunn Snell

Obituary of Lazelle L. Dunn Snell 1917-2016 Lazelle L. Dunn Snell passed away March 9, 2016 after a prolonged struggle with congestive heart failure 34 days prior to her 99th birthday. A memorial celebration of her life will be held 4:00 pm Tuesday, April 19th at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, 1801 W. Brooks, Norman, OK where she had been an active and long time member. Mrs. Snell was born Blanche Lazelle Laughlin on April 12, 1917, in Wakita, Oklahoma to Frank and Laura (Bowers) Laughlin. After graduating from Wakita High School, she attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK, earning a BA degree in speech and English. She taught school in Eldorado and Hobart, OK while earning an MFA in drama. Soon thereafter, she married OU drama professor, John W. Dunn in 1940. They had two sons, Russell and Marshall.
