Leon David Porter

Dave was born in El Segundo, CA to Lawrence Dale and Dolores Porter. He was active in sports; baseball and track. He loved raising tropical fish and had over twenty tanks at one time. His two greatest loves were the mountains and learning. He spent alot of time fishing, hiking, and hunting in the Sierras of California as a boy: and later on he loved spending time in the mountains of Southern and Southeastern Utah. His love for learning was a driving force. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Southern Utah University in Zoology/Biology, 1986; his Masters degree in Molecular Cellular Biology at University of Houston,1989; a Ph.D in Biochemistry a The University of Colorado,1997; he also did Postdoctoral work at The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. Dave love learning outside of academia as well and collected many papers and books on a wide variety of subjects including history, literature, science, chemistry, logic, and mathematics.
