Mary Jane Carver ( Lawrence)

Mary Jane Lawrence - Carver passed away peacefully with family on November 25 2021. Mary was born on July 8th, 1938 to Raleigh Oliver Lawrence and Clara Alice Ball - Lawrence in the Corpus Cristi, Texas area before moving to San Antonio, Texas at an early age. Mary graduated from High School in 1956 and also graduated from Tech school for an Art degree in San Antonio, Texas in 1958. She met her future husband John R. Carver D.C. who had returned from Korea and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston while she was working on the River walk in an ice cream parlor and they were later married in 1959. In early 1962 they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma on South Broadway where Dr. John R. Carver set up his first Chiropractic practice. Mary Jane Carver was the loving mother to two boys. Dr. John Gwin Carver of Edmond, Oklahoma and Ralph Paul Carver of Palo Alto, California. Mary was a very well known portrait and landscape artist in the OKC area and had exhibited her art in numerous art shows across the country with many best of show awards. She was proud of having been instrumental in starting the Canterbury Art Show in 1969 as a fund raiser for Saint Mary's Episcopal Church which was held at Stephenson's park for many years. Mary and her husband John raised registered dairy goats most of their time in Edmond and supplied goat milk to many of the undernourished or sickly children in the Edmond and OKC area. Mary loved sports and attended almost all of her two boys little league baseball and football games. She lived in Edmond, OK for 60 years but was never a big fan of OU or OSU football teams. She was a Texas fan!!! Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Dr John R. Carver. Mary is survived by her two children: Dr. John Gwin Carver of Edmond, OK and Ralph Paul Carver of Palo Alto, California. Grandson: Austin Lee Carver and his wife Emery Cunningham - Carver. Great grandchildren: Ariel Grace Carver and Weston Lee Carver. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all.
