Mary Louise Loughmiller peacefully passed at the age of 77 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mary was born October 31, 1945 in Oklahoma City and went to her heavenly home on July 23, 2023. She is preceded in death by her father Dr. Robert F. Loughmiller, mother Josephine O’Keefe, and brother, Robert F. Loughmiller, Jr. Mary is survived by her spiritual family, good friends, and lovely neighbors who will miss her great sense of humor and wisdom.
Mary had a full and fascinating life! Mary graduated from Harding High School in Oklahoma City in 1963. She received her bachelor’s degree from OU and Master’s degree from Colorado State University. She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate in Law from OCU. Mary was brilliant and loving. She also had a wonderful sense of humor. She laughed easily but was also reserved and thoughtful. She loved horses: she told stories of riding horses bareback out onto an island in Lake Hefner and how daring that was. She kept her horse in the Nichols Hills Stable. She won several awards in both Western and English riding. She was not only an accomplished horseman, but also loved sailing and was a member of the OKC boat club for many years. Mary also enjoyed playing and watching golf. Mary excelled in playing bridge and played with a group at Northpark Mall in Oklahoma City. She had incredibly varied interests which included NASCAR racing, trips to Israel and Europe, Nick Saban, and Brett Favre. She could set a beautiful table for entertaining AND talk football and investments. She was marvelously gracious and beautifully sublime. Mary had a wide array of occupations including realtor, stockbroker, and lawyer. She was a member of All Souls Episcopal Church, and helped in the communion service for many year at the Wednesday 7am service. She was also involved in an interdenominational Thursday bible study group where she was surrounded by spiritual sisters for many years. Mary also recounts stories of her neighbors helping with her yard, her driveway, groceries and friendship.
Mary was publicly confirmed in the Episcopal Church, but she also professed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ during the Jesus movement in the 70’s. She was a woman of the word, of prayer, and a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ. She held a perfect balance of liturgical church and authentic relationship with her Heavenly Father. She was a wonderful fully devoted follower who led a life of quiet faith.
She requested that there would be no public funeral service, but there will be a brief internment ceremony at All Souls Episcopal Church on Wednesday, August 23rd at 1pm.
