Mary E. Walker joined our heavenly father on October 19, 2021. Mary Ellen (Coley) Walker has been a resident of Oklahoma City since 1974 and was born July 19th, 1927 in Frederick, Oklahoma; the daughter of Truman Otto and Clara Colvin Peters Coley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, and a brother. Mrs. Walker attended Frederick public schools, graduating in 1943, and received a degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 1948. On December 4, 1948, she married Jim G Walker, who preceded her in death in 1967. Following his death, she returned to Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, and received a Master of Social Work degree in 1972. Mrs. Walker retired after 25 years of service with the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services, having held positions as a social worker, county administrator, field representative, and program supervisor. She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church and Women’s Fellowship. Immediate survivors include two daughters, Paula and her husband Michael Lane of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Jean and her husband Kent Larason of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and one grandchild, William Walker Larason of Oklahoma City. The Family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of St. Ann’s Nursing Home and Mercy Hospice for their compassionate care. A graveside service will be conducted on November 20th, 11:00 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Cemetery in Frederick, Oklahoma.
