Michael J. Dain was born November 2, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas. Mike spent his childhood on his parents dairy farm near Furley, Kansas. After graduating high school in 1965 he served in the United States Navy for 3 and a half years. His duty stations included the Naval Supply Depot, Guam, and Naval Support Activity Saigon, Republic of Vietnam. Using his GI bill Mike attended the Kansas Midwestern School of Broadcasting and began his radio career. Over the next four decades he rose to be one of the preeminent farm broadcasters in the nation. He received many local, regional, and statewide honors including awards from the Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Oklahoma Wheat commission, Oklahoma Association of Conservative districts, Oklahoma Farmers Union, The Oklahoma Peanut Commission, the Oklahoma Pork Council, and Oklahoma Cattlemen Inc. Outside of being a fixture in the Oklahoma agriculture community, he was an avid golfer, Merle Haggard fan, bowling enthusiast, and professional napper. He will be most remembered for his engaging personality and ornery sense of humor. He was preceded in death by parents Richard E. Dain and Maxine Foster Dain. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Deneci . Son, James and his wife Kimberly; grandsons Carter and Miles. Daughter, Viviane Arnold and husband Gabriel; grandsons Gabriel and Maximus and granddaughter Isabela. Daughter Vanice Goncalves. Sister Katie Oller and husband Larry. Brother Patrick Dain. Many nieces and nephews and countless friends. A celebration of life gathering will be held at Corbett Funeral Home on Saturday, February 9th.
