Nancy Ellen Callahan, of Nichols Hills OK, died in her home on May 11, 2010 after a long illness. She was born January 22, 1951, in Oil City PA. She graduated from Venango Christian High School in Oil City in 1968 and earned an RN degree from Hamot Hospital School of Nursing in Erie PA in 1971. She worked as a nurse at Hamot until 1986, rising to the position of Director of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Lab before leaving to become Assistant Director of Cardiology at Whittier Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach CA. She then began a career in medical equipment sales, representing Corometrics Medical Systems and Marquette Medical Systems in southern California. In 1995 she accepted a position with General Electric"™s Cardiology Division, which brought her to Oklahoma City where she has since resided. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Nancy B. Callahan of Randolph NY and their two sons, Liam and Kevin; a brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Heather Callahan of Dunkirk NY; a niece, Bridget White of Vancouver WA; and two nephews, Josh Wenger of Copper Creek AK and Samuel Gold of Kennerdell PA. She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Gold of Oil City who died in 1994; her father, John C. Callahan of Oil City who died in 1997; and her mother, Joan N. Callahan of Oil City who died in 2005. Her community activities included being a Star volunteer for the Oklahoma Civic Center and a volunteer for CASA, Court-Appointed Special Advocates, which protects the interests of court-involved children. She served on the boards of the Melton Art Reference Library and the Business Women"™s Golf Association. She was a student and a second-degree black belt instructor at Reeder"™s Martial Arts in Oklahoma City. She loved her two miniature schnauzers as well as being outdoors, gardening, and traveling. Although her family and her many friends are glad she is at rest, they will keenly miss her grace, her generosity, and her boundless good humor.
