Memorial Service Thursday, April 24th, 2014 - 11:00 AM - Kingfisher First Baptist Church 1340 South 13th - Kingfisher, OK - 73750 Mary Nancy Pope, 83, of Loyal, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Daughter of Lawrence and Wilma Stronberg, she was born July 6, 1930, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Nancy married Denzil Pope in 1950, and they farmed northwest of Loyal for over 60 years. While living on the farm, she opened a ceramics studio in Okeene. Nancy also had a passion for music. She was actively involved in the Oklahoma Federation of Music Clubs, serving as the state president for a number of years, starting music clubs around the state and finally serving on their national board. In the tate 1960s, she hosted a television program on the Oklahoma City Educational Television Channel, highlighting musicians and promoting the arts throughout Oklahoma. She also performed solo hand bell concerts in many churches. As a member of First Baptist Church of Kingfisher, she organized and directed the Intercessory Prayer Ministry and served there for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Denzil Pope, of Ranchwood Nursing Home in Yukon; sons Randy Pope (Caddy) ofTipp City, OH and Scott Pope (Peggy) of Yukon, OK; grandchildren Christopher Pope of Clarksville, IN, Jennifer Freeman (Justin) of Mount Airy, NC, Melody Pope of Lexington, KY, Anthony Valentine of Norman, OK, Tracie Pope of Cypress, TX, and Rebecca Pope {John) of Yukon; and greatgrandchildren Dhebra Pope and Addison Freeman. Memorial service is Thursday, April 24, at First Baptist Church of Kingfisher. Fred King will be officiating.
