NORMA McLAIN MOE passed away on February 8, 2018. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on September 3, 1933, to Maynard and Vivian McLain. She attended Classen High School, and graduated with a B.S. from Oklahoma A & M. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and President of the sorority her senior year. After graduation, Norma continued to support KKG as an advisor and a member of the House Board for many years. She attended the University of Oklahoma School of Law, until she married Culver D. Moe, on June 16, 1956. Norma was an avid reader, and loved learning and teaching. Upon their return from Culver’s deployment to New York in 1965, Norma and Culver joined Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. Sharing her love of learning, Norma taught many different Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School sessions. She helped initiate a Covenant Class Sunday School for high school students, who had to “covenant” their attendance and agree to be prepared for class. For years Norma traveled to Dallas, Texas, to attend Laity Week classes at the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. In the 1970’s she wrote radio scripts depicting numerous and varied groups living across Oklahoma. Norma acquired her Master’s in Teaching from Oklahoma City University. She was also a member of the PEO Chapter CK in Oklahoma City. The family enjoyed attending many sporting events at OSU, including traveling to Seattle for the NCAA Final Four, football Bowl Games, and Big 8/Big 12 baseball tournaments. One of her greatest joys was supporting the activities of her children, grandchildren, and nephews, sitting for many, many hours on bleachers at basketball, softball, baseball, and soccer games. She enjoyed music recitals, choir performances, and any activity that involved her family. Another source of happiness and fun for Norma was the family holiday celebrations, or any time the clan gathered together. She was preceded in death by her husband, Culver DeWitt Moe, and brothers, Mason McLain, and R.T. McLain. She is survived by daughters Leslie Maye and her husband Kerry of Edmond, Karen Hubbard and her husband Rodney of Dallas, Texas, Lauren Heflin and her husband John of Piedmont, granddaughters Heather Kaestner, Kira Albinsky, Calli Heflin, and Katherine Hubbard, grandsons Matthew Hubbard, Mark Hubbard, Ian Heflin and Mason Heflin, great granddaughter Eliza Albinsky, and many other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers the family would ask you to consider a donation to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (O.M.R.F.), Alzheimer’s Research – to help find a cure for this disease; Infant Crisis Services-an organization providing for the youngest in our community and whose Executive Director is a Kappa friend; or a charity of your choice.
