Omah Suzanne Ferree

Omah “Suzy” Ferree went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 6, 2019 surrounded by her family. Suzy was a 1954 graduate of Northeast High School and received her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood from OSU in 1958 and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. While in Stillwater, she began her career as a kindergarten teacher. She later earned her Masters degree from Southern Nazarene University. As Director of Learning Tree Preschool and Kingsgate Christian School, Suzy dedicated over 30 years to the successful education of young children. In 1986, she joined the National Lecture Staff of the Gesell Institute of Child Development. She traveled across the country facilitating teacher workshops and educating parents about the importance of school readiness. Suzy was an active member of her church and worked as a group leader and mentor to young mothers. An outstanding cook, her plucking bread and homemade hot rolls were always the highlight of family gatherings and she loved sharing recipes from her extensive cookbook collection with friends and family. Most importantly, Suzy loved spending time with her family and supported every activity that her husband, children, and grandchildren were a part of. Suzy is survived by Larry, her husband of 60 years, her son Mark, her daughter Mindy Baze and husband Cory, and her daughter Julie. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jack and Ellie Baze, Will and Emma Evans, her sister Peggy Schuler and her brother Bert Emitt.
